So here's the deal: I really want to keep drawing, but I just don't have the inspiration/motivation. I'm no good at it; why work so hard at something I can't even be proud of? Sometimes I love drawing, but it sucks way more out of me than it gives back by the time I finish a piece. My art is uninteresting, inadequate, and unattractive. Why bother? I should be better. My hours of hard work should have relinquished much more than boring environments and stiff, poorly-drawn characters.

I just want to cry.

This is the first time I've seriously considered stopping. My heart's not in it like it used to be. I feel like I should work at things I'm good at, like writing--especially since I'm probably going to be an English major and go into editing.

What do you think? Should I keep trying, or just move on? Any advice on coming out of art blocks?

'Cause I just don't know right now.

Hey, everyone! My name's Ariella. I'm nineteen and I live in California. I really got into drawing in the 7th grade, and have been improving (slowly) ever since. Sometimes I don't draw a stitch for months; other times, I'll draw every day: it just depends on whether I have the inspiration to work at it, 'cause it takes a lot of effort.
